THE HOTEL CONCEPT
A hospitality project may begin with a remarkable site, an existing building, an architectural vision or a personal ambition.
But ingredients are not yet an identity.
Before architecture, interiors, branding and visualization can work toward one coherent result, there must be clarity around what is being created, who it is for and why it should exist in this particular place.
I work with owners, developers and investors to establish that foundation.
THE WORKS
A Hotel Concept clarifies the future property’s:
– Central brand concept
– Intended guest
– Distinctive proposition
– Relationship to its setting
– Experience intention
– Narrative direction
– Guiding brand principles
– Brief for future creative expression
The result is a shared idea that ownership and creative partners can use to evaluate the decisions that follow.
WHEN TO ENGAGE
This work may be valuable when:
– A site has been identified but the hospitality idea remains unclear
– Several possible directions are competing
– An existing property is being considered for adaptive reuse
– Ownership needs alignment around the proposition
– Architects or designers need a stronger experiential brief
– Renderings are beautiful but do not communicate a distinctive idea
– Branding is approaching before the property has been clearly defined
THE BOUNDARIES
This work does not include:
– Financial feasibility or underwriting
– Property valuation
– Capital raising
– Architecture or interior design
– Detailed operational programming
– Operator selection
– Revenue management
– Full brand design or implementation
The work complements the appropriate financial, architectural, operational and development advisors.
WHY IT MATTERS
As more disciplines become involved, an unclear idea becomes increasingly expensive.
Early clarity can reduce conflicting directions, strengthen creative briefs and help ownership invest more deliberately in the decisions that support the property’s identity.
My role is not to determine financial feasibility or design the physical property.
It is to clarify the idea those disciplines are being asked to serve.
Every project begins at a different point. Each engagement is scoped according to the stage of development, the question requiring clarity, the stakeholders involved and the work already completed. Investment is determined after the project and its needs have been understood.
